- Term position until March 30, 2024 with possibility of more hours on second grant.
- Remote work possible with occasional in-person meetings if needed.
We are looking for someone to undertake the reimagining of our policy and procedures manual to ensure our framework and policies are equitable to all folks connected to our organization, including Staff, Volunteers, Board Members, and Clients. This will be done in collaboration with many stakeholders including members of oppressed groups, and an equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) consultant.
Our policy manual was inherited from the local women’s centre in the early 2000s, and while it features many equitable policies, we must ensure that it meets the realities of marginalized folks in 2023-2024. We want policies that are cognizant of how homophobia, transphobia, heterosexism, racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, classism, colonialism, and other forms of oppression inform our work and organization.
The ideal candidate is a policy whiz who eats, breathes, and sleeps policies. You are a social justice advocate. You can research and write while collaborating with many stakeholders, but you are capable of self-direction in completing a long project and meeting deadlines. You may have any number of educational backgrounds or work experiences, depending on your path to working with nonprofits.
The position hours are flexible so long as the grant deadlines are met. We are looking at completing approximately 575 hours by March 30, 2023. Wage is $30 per hour plus 4% vacation pay. This could work out to about 28 hours weekly, although you may wish to work more hours for a shorter period.
We encourage people from equity-seeking groups to apply, as we recognize the value of lived experience.
Competition is open until we find the right candidate, so please apply today.
