Program and Outreach Assistant

Are you passionate about sexual health and education? Do you enjoy working for community organizations where you can really make a difference? Then work with the Sexual Health Centre this summer!

The Sexual Health Centre offers education, programming, and resources on sexual and reproductive health. We are pro-choice, youth friendly, and LGBTQA2S-positive. We believe everyone should have access to quality, non-judgemental sexual health education and health supplies. We provide free condoms, pregnancy tests, education, and guidance.

Pay Rate: $10.60 for 10 weeks at 30 hours a week

Requirements:

  • Must qualify for funding under the Canada Summer Jobs program.
  • Must be pro-choice, sex-positive, and LGBTQA2S-friendly.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must have access to transportation.
  • Students from the fields of health, social sciences, or education are encouraged to apply.

Projects and tasks:

  • Public relations at summer events (exhibitions and parades)
  • Research and surveys on local sexual health services
  • Meeting with other health professionals to determine local need
  • Working with volunteers and the Board
  • Updating resources including the website
  • Assisting the Executive Director with administration, workshops, and other tasks
  • Facilitating workshops
  • Day-to-day operations including greeting clients and providing peer support
  • Other tasks as needed
