“As gay rights advance across the US, there is one group that feels it has long been neglected and isolated – the elderly. But that may now be changing, with a series of retirement housing projects opening to serve the gay community.”
This short clip from the BBC shows one group of LGBTQ folks who are living in a housing complex for the rainbow community. Similar issues exist in Nova Scotia. In 2010 NSRAP held a community meeting to discuss the issues facing the aging LGBTQ population, including safe and inclusive housing and social events.
At this time, they formed a group called the Elderberries, a social group for LGBT folks over 50 from around the province.
